Coachella Valley and specifically the rural unincorporated communities of <strong>Thermal, Oasis, Mecca and North Shore.<\/strong> The region reflects years of neglect and inequality between the east side of the valley and the west, with the former characterized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/07\/31\/us\/oasis-mobile-home-park-coachella.html\">substandard housing,<\/a> air polluted by a reseeding Salton Sea and pesticides, unsafe drinking water, and dangerous roads and the west characterized by manicured lawns, golf resorts and pedestrian malls and paths.<\/p><p>We work in partnership with a strong community-based regional movement to draw resources to the four unincorporated communities for climate resilience assets, water and wastewater infrastructure, housing opportunities, and equitable transportation options; address root causes of inequality and injustice including discriminatory housing and land policies; demand safe and dignified housing; and reduce
